Hot Weather Advice
During this prolonged spell of hot weather it is important to remember that our pets can suffer. Here are just a few tips to ensure you keep your pet safe.
Never leave an animal inside a car as it will quickly overheat.
Before taking your dog for a walk check the temperature of the pavement. Place the back of your hand on the ground and make sure you can keep it there for at least 7 seconds. If not then DO NOT take the dog for a walk.
Keep your dog clipped nice and short to help him stay cooler.
Provide plenty of drinking water and carry some with you when out walking.
Close the blinds/curtains to keep the house cool.
Outside animal housing needs to be protected from direct sunlight where possible.
