Micro-Chipping Dogs and the Law
It will become compulsory for all dogs in Wales to be micro-chipped by the 1st March 2015. This will not come in to force in England until April 2016.
In April 2013 estimated figures showed that 58% of the 450,000 dogs in Wales were already micro- chipped, leaving some 190,000 dogs to micro- chipped before March 2015.
The Welsh Government was due to introduce regulations to allow dog owners 1 year to get their dog micro-chipped.
Dogs Trust is showing its support for this and will endeavour to offer free micro-chipping to as many dog owners as possible. Check out www.dogstrust.org.uk for more information if you still need to get your dog micro-chipped.
Please remember that micro-chipping can only be successful if you keep your details up to date! If you move house or change your telephone number you must inform the data base that you are registered with so that they can update their information.
