How to help the environment and feed your pets conveniently!
I’m sure everyone is aware of the recent media attention focusing once again on the growing plastic problem.
In the past Creature Comforts has disposed of numerous pet food pouches during the daily visits. These were general waste destined for landfill/ incineration.
We have done our research and found out that they can actually be recycled!
As a company we are so happy to be supporting this worthwhile children’s charity and helping the environment at the same time.
As part of our service we will now take away any empty food pouches and drop them off at the local collection point.
So how exactly are the pet food pouches recycled I hear you ask?
Once the pouches have been received by the Ellie’s Fund charity they are sent to a TerraCycle depot in England to be recycled. Here they are sorted, washed and shredded. Any food residue is composted. The pouches are then densified into hard plastic granules. the granules are extruded so they can be made in to different plastic products such as benches and fence posts.
Ellie’s Fund receives £3.50 for every 7kg of pet food pouches!
